The Coming Light (Free verse) by poetandknowit
Now with the moon in retreat
the sun can again move forward
stretching light across the sadness
left by the last streaks of autumn,
warming the minutes of tricked time,
when the late afternoons of this
new winter grasp the land, hang against
these mountains in the city backdrop
just a little longer each day
before falling to darkness.
