The Last of The Winds (Free verse) by emilyowey
The last of the winds came today.
The final push.
Tomorrow weâll hear what theyâve left us.
Tomorrow has never been closer.
Look to the east and you can almost feel it on your cheek
Look to the west, it holds you,
Like a bed of fallen leaves.
Did you feel the cold?
Itâs always worse than you remember.
I would tell you I made that cold,
But you wouldnât believe me.
Not without all the things I will never tell you.
The last of the winds came today.
The last of the winds has not yet gone.
It lingers.
A sleep thatâs not ready to surrender its hold.
A scent left on your shoulder by a heart close to yours.
The last of the winds takes a little of you with it.
Leaves you empty.
Then allows the possibility of fullness.
