The Shadow

I've been so unhappy lately, But I've come to a revelation. It's time I finally did something About my situation. I stare down at my shadow, Cast upon the ground. But when I look up, The sun's nowhere to be found. The shadow is outlined In pale white. How could this be? Something doesn't seem right. I kneel down, But the shadow doesn't move. This is unheard of, But what does it prove? I wipe at the white outline, And my hands are filled with chalk. My throat goes dry, And I am unable to talk. A chill courses through me. My head is spinning. I suppose it wasn't my shadow From the very beginning. I look at my skin, Translucent and ghost-like. Dead; but less so than I've been For most of this life.
