The Stems of Roses (Free verse) by embersandenvelopes
When my body rests in the stems of roses, fighting like I have fought under love and life, their scent will be my memory of all the times we never gave up on each other or ourselves.

one question, why would you be lying under rose stems? I'm not trying to be an ass, I just want to make sure you aren't "having a rough time" and considering something dangerous. Intersting work though even though I have no idea what it's about I give you an 8 I'm on AIM at Impishkat

hehe no, don't worry, I'm not having a rough time. This poem was written with my best friend in mind (that's the we). It's about how when I die, part of me will grow in the roses I envision being planted with my ashes. When a surviving loved one should smell them, memories of my life will be conjured up.

Roses are a type of flower that can be difficult to grow. They need a certain environment and a lot of care. But given those two, they will flourish. I can identify my life with that.

A sparkling guff of horticulture.
