Do The Wash, Love (Free verse) by heartlessempath
I feel like old
Dirty laundry
Used and smelling of
Sweat- still on the floor where you
Left me.
Do the wash, love
I prefer to be
Starch-fresh
And hanging pristinely
In a closet- untouchable and
Smelling of cedar (the anti-moth)-
Would you pre-treat
Me? Just to make sure all the stains
Are removed.
Iâm not as invulnerable as
Once pretended
And when you put me in
Finally! Would you be sure to
Read the tag?
And take note- gentle, hand wash
Instead of tossing me in
On heavy soil
And hoping I come out whole.
Remember to do the wash, love.

it doesn't fit well with the rest of the poem
and i think most people can figure out what you mean anyway
the metaphor is very consistent and you pull it off well
