The Waning Spring (Free verse) by tuthaliash
New peonies Blooming gorgeously, voluptuously red, Blend their rich perfume With that of wild yellow roses And the last of the lilac; And nearby pines Add a note of spice To the pure and poignantly sweet air. It all reminds me of you. Oh, my love! So far away today, Come home soon! Return to my arms That together we may celebrate The waning spring. (Post Falls, Idaho - June 4, 1995)
