Jennifer won the war. (Free verse) by darby pyn
Jennifer slept in her car. she had one bad rumor that went too far. the scent of chloroform seeps from the trunk. it’s hard to digest it gets so easy to panic sweat through your clothes feels so tight you can’t stand it. all the consequences have no traction against the satisfaction of physical action. just sixteen with her brunet eyes sweet to the subconscious she knows no disguise. a shoulder for your tears an ear for your fears. fuck you! I got you. did my sensitive ways draw you in did you have me in your dreams well I’ll make those dreams nightmares you rapist fuck! let’s go for a ride. grinning to the point of insanity she drives with the beating echoing from the trunk. YOU LIKE PUNK ROCK ASSHOLE! THIS ONES FOR YOU. she taunts as she puts in the Misfits. THIS IS CALLED MOMMY CAN I GO OUT AND KILL TONIGHT. HOPE YOU LIKE IT FUCKER!. she drives on keeping in character but still scared she reaches for the whisky. liquid confidence. crying in silence. never giving him the satisfaction of tears. she drives on. was it the hunt? was I a trophy? what the fuck did I do to you? I don’t want to kill but I can’t let him go she thinks to herself. screaming in frustration FUCK YOU!!!. she reaches her destination. and old boyfriend on the outside of the law. she knocks. door opens. hey Jennie what’s up? it’s late what’s wrong?. I’m in a bit of trouble she says explaining her ordeal with vivid passion hoping he sympathizes with her dilemma and helps find the conclusion. you want him dead Jennie. yes she says. there's no going back once it’s done. can you live with that? yes she says! leave your car report it stolen in the morning. take this money walk up a mile go to the gas station and call a cab. thank you she says. he replies. jenny I love you but if you start to feel guilty well let’s say I’m not going to die for you! so one more time are you sure you want this done. YES she replies. months pass, her car was never found and neither was her brother. her parents still mourn.
