The Path (Free verse) by hummers86
My walk unsure The road not right, The truth so near It is in sight The path not easy But one I must take, Pressures increasing When will I break? The world so crass The world so dire, My life will pass With one desire Through thick and thin I must persevere, He took me in When love was not near His sight is my hope My truth and my life, How could I cope? If I did not stride When all is gone And life has fled, Ill count my wrongs And bow my head The path I chose The one that’s right, For the one who rose That dreary night Though some thought it queer The decision I made, When during that year I called for his aid Persistence a must Best effort put forth Then passing his test I reveal my self worth

Up the ladder: midnight feast
Down the ladder: view from the top

stanza 4 is a little off tempo and some of the rhymes feel forced - like life and stride and made and aid. But overall, I enjoyed it. :)
