BURNHAM BEECHES (Free verse) by longships
Leaves drift lazily as rain on the living soil, Crackling branches break an unreal silence. Fallen trunks lie buried beneath a carpet of velvet moss, The leaf-covered earth shifts as feet saunter on. Under the canopy of branches I view life in a different light, The brilliance of colours utterly entrancing. I steal the freedom offered for the moment, As I become lost. Every second worth being lost. I stand beside a solitary giant. And although I can not tell you its name, It leaves impressions of the past on its crumpled bark. Flowing tails of many stories since the day it sprang from the soil. I will soon disappear from the unreality of this freedom, The trees?

Up the ladder: In a Single Moment
Down the ladder: The Matrix

so you are bound to your freedom, for now... trees live slower lives than we do, and i wonder, can they sense us, cutting and caressing them? do they feel the loss of love, of life? walk on, as long as you have strength.

well yeah but..to mold the boat out of steel and fiberglass also takes trees. for framing and modeling prior to pouring, and the process of melting metals also couln't be done without trees. <now don't get me wrong i'm not saying do a madagascar> or anything, but i'm also not condoning killing beatifull old trees. i'm just saying the lesser of the two evils is better then both evils. que no??
