Is Not Chicago (Free verse) by http://findingwater
A plane flew into a building on television. Am I so desensitized that I didn’t believe it? I don’t believe sixty percent of what I see on TV. Not even the drunkest pilot mistakes an accounting firm for a runway. For an instant, I thought someone had dramatized M Doughty’s song-- but this was not Chicago and here comes another plane;all is now clear-- that’s quite a statement. I cannot even fathom the fanaticism needed to sacrifice a life. I hope that pilot picked the right religion, if not he may have some explaining to do. Whatever happened to tommy guns or drive-by shootings or assassinations of world leaders. When did civilians enter the picture, (auschwitz, hiroshima, somalia, bosnia …) I shouldn’t have to think I’m next, but it does give me something in common with most of the rest of the world. I still don’t think I believe the television, but this is not the Chrysler building, this is not Chicago.

Up the ladder: Tomorrow
Down the ladder: Stargazing Illusionist
