The Price in December (Free verse) by RWAndersen
Still in youth and given choice Seize the chance, yes, pray, rejoice! Will to live, strength to try, Ne'er a thought to ask why, Then go, let's start the invoice. But the price in December, To buy back some November, Retain rusting leaf, And delay the grief, Paid by one in September. There's money that can be spent, For the one who's heaven-bent, If to live, If to die, Is it right to decide, With blind eye turned to dissent. Take the place of one held dear, Fogged over eyes become clear. The purse can't buy desire, If time's come to retire, One's will prefer's mind's mirror. When time comes to let go, I pray for the peace to know, Not to prolong your fight, Smile as you near the light, And tell how I saw you glow.
