Lovers Game (Free verse) by scitz
We were cotton dwellers of nocturne,
And our skin was fastened like shoelaces,
Playing the lovers game,
Moth's to a flame waiting to burn,
Living out of synthetic suitcases.
We met in forgotten suburban streets
Where Victorian lampposts shone like Turkish delight
We glided like pollen in tainted sheets,
And left at morning light.
If he were to find us would you cry?
A life as his arm ornament?
Or would you rather die.
Complications are stronger than temptations,
Carnal hungers can consume the carnivor,
Loving too much made you love me no more,
The tie that binds can asphixiate,
I was just escapism,
And how you taught me to suffocate,
Love exchanged for lust,
lies for trust,
Gold for rust,
Making Love for Sado Masochism,
You gave me hope disguised as cynicism.
He didn't have you neither did I,
And looking back through rose tinted spectacles,
I look at my insecurity then, and know why.
