ny road trip (Free verse) by daniella
if i had not taken into the whole idea i would be silent home by now. road trips take awhile. somehow though the cuban jew did not work out so i am sitting in the passenger seat. with a plum dog whining at the wheel and heel i say when i take him for a pee, stopping to buck up on coffee. heading north in a continuous presence. was it always like this? didnt i have other luggage yesterday? will i be picked up at the station? i need quarters. no matter now i am here the map folded in my lap while the fur trees blur, one, two, 3 the wind takes the smoke up over past where we were. he is sleeping in the rear now while i chase the dream i actually left exactly now bereft of where i am going. i will pick it up on the way. shit yeah i want to come along, what would you fucking say? j a n u a r y 2 0 0 3
