Poor Hollywood (Free verse) by zzaj
There are thunderheads over Hollywood Even the smog feels tense Lightning, and the palms with their feet deep beneath Doheny start freaking out. Poor Hollywood. Poor weeping palms. Here, the sun never sets; it's the dark that grows brighter, eating the innocence of the day while the monkeys shake their cages in the bio labs at UCLA.

Up the ladder: knots...
Down the ladder: March

Some of the images are clever - "smog feels tense, dark that grows brighter," but the poem ultimately loses me in the end.
