When I wake... (Free verse) by Topaz Servias I want to sleep knowing I'll wake to the sweet smell
of your hair, to the feel of your heart beat against
my chest, to hear your soft steady breathing as you
peacfully slumber cuddled safely in my arms.
I want to know that you were with me all night
by my side. I want to see you wake and wipe away
the remnants of sleep, to steal the first kiss as
dreams linger in the back of your mind.
I want to see you smile as your eyes fix on me,
to see the light behind them as a window to your heart
knowing what was...what is..and what will come,
to hear my name on your lips, soft and sweet.
