The beggar in me (Free verse) by dilips_10
I see in you the eyes of mine. Helpless and life weathered. But a grim resolve to breathe - To strive to stay. That twinkle in your milky gaze Shows patience and failures; That calm in your composure Misconstrues detachment as humiliation; That silence in your stillness Mistakes frivolity as insanity; And as I see you, I see in you the eyes of mine. With that begging bowl, you sit With eyes of mine I see me no other than you. With nothing in my mind But your company for comfort; With nothing to talk But for all our mute talk; With a view to stare As we breathe in unison; I sit for moments with you ripe life, Satiating the beggar in me - On this slab where you dwell And as I move on, I see in you the eyes of mine
