From Don ... For Me (Free verse) by NewbieMe
NO. I I did not lie to you. Never did I. I did lie to your friend. I hope you understand why. My pain was great, my sorrow strong; My anguish carried on. I did not want to say goodbye; Never did I. I said my farewell to save you pain; the pain of knowing me. The pain of my insecurity; I am not perfect, not by far, never said I was; Never did I. I did not want to go, and I cried so long and hard; I swore to the heavens give me one more try, just one; I will not make the same mistake twice; Never will I. NO. II Hitting rock bottom It'll never end. I cry a pool of tears And go back to knowing my fears. They haunt me and taunt me And won't go away. My heart made me do it again and my mind says I'll learn someday. I look at my life and see nothing but pain. I'll live alone forever with nothing to gain.
