A Part Of Me Dies (Free verse) by Caducus
I have become so tired, That my mind is sleeping, And every smile on strangers faces, Makes me feel like weeping. My heart tries to beat slower, But you changed all that, A part of dies as love tries to live. Strange that ! Now I'm returning to the solitary cell that traps me within, Now I'm learning that loving is hell, I know that well, Due to where I've been. I'm certain now that I am a disease to the word contentment, There are so many tears that need to fall. So many echoes in empty ghettos, That call my name in resentment. A part of me dies when I say how I feel, My hearts tired lies, But this could be real. So where do I go ? And do I go there alone ? Cast out of your life ? Well that suits me fine, For if your not mine, Then thats all I have ever known. Inside tells me that I wont feel this way again, But my pride tells me to deal with this nagging pain. Its all gone so fast, and I guess that surprised me, But with you my love, The devil was cast out, The sweetness and the weakness was an Angel that baptized me. She said our love was invincible, Yet it died from a lack of pride and principal. I buried the pedestal years ago, For I was forced to stand, So do you take a chance ? or let fears grow ? If you simply don't know, Then you have answered me.
