Like a Father (Free verse) by confuzdlilgirl
I met you when I was little A childish girl in your eyes Always having something to fiddle Every day a new thing realized Well I'm still that little girl Though I keep her hidden inside I still get lost in my own world this you see, though I try to hide You tell me not to care Or what other people see because I'm good and I'm fair and that's all I have to be You tell me I'm all right You hold me when I need you You keep me safe at night to me you're always true I don't need someone to say that you are too good I know you have a special way that many wish they could You tell me that I'm pretty and ask me of my view of boys there are many all of which I tell you you listen when I share something I keep hidden it matters if I'm not there you see what I am within You see me growing to be Yet see the little girl inside And like a father to me You'll be right by my side.

Up the ladder: Do you
Down the ladder: The way they used to be
