And my mind,
Seeking desperately, in vain
For ambiguity in your reply,
Collapsed into a dream
Of infinite cycles
Of sun, moon and stars.
And of their children,
Barren wastelands
Of cold gray earth,
Never changing.
Never a sound,
And when I awoke
You were gone.
And my heart,
Beating desperately, in vain
To feel you near me
Filled with sorrow
And my eyes,
Looking desperately, in vain
To see you once again
Filled with tears
Enough to last a lifetime
A lifetime spent without you
Wishing desperately, in vain
That I had never asked.
