Bloody Sonner (Free verse) by The Eskimo King
Oh, for some bloody lover's ghost,
Some kind unbodied post
Sent from the shades below!
I strangely long to know
Whether the bloody chaplets wear
Those that their mistress' scorn did bear
Or those that were used bloody kindly.
For whatsoe'er they tell us here
To make those bloodenings dear,
'Twill there, I fear, be found
That to the being crowned
T' have loved alone will not suffice,
Unless we also have been wise
And have our bloody loves enjoyed.
What posture can we think him in
That, here unloved, again(bloody)
Departs, and 's thither gone
Where each sits by his bloody own?
Or how can that Elysium be
Where I my mistress bloody must see
Circled in other's arms?
For there the bloody judges all are just,
And Sophonisba must bloody
Be his whom she held so bloody dear,
Not his who bloody loved her here.
The sweet Philoclea, since she bloody-well died,
Lies by her bloody Pirocles side,
Not by bloody Amphialus.
Some bays, perchance, or bloody bough
For difference crowns the bloody brow
Of those kind souls that were bloody
The bloody martyrs here;
And if that be the only bloody odds,
(As who can tell?) ye bloody gods,
Give me the bloody woman here!
