The Son Of (Free verse) by malakin
I stand at the edge of the cliffs of wide wonder My arms outstretched and feeling the rain As it caresses my fingertips and sends my mind To far-away places I have never been And the lightning sears my eyes with a blinding light That turns my face toward a God I do not know And who cares little for me. I hear a footstep behind me and cannot turn To look and see my Fate has approached and Would push... Would push me to the edge of my consciousness Would push me to limits of this physical world Would push me from this cliff And would have me throw myself toward heaven. I never was one for Fate. I never cared much for Destiny. I don't believe we walk on preordained paths. I will not be Pushed. I will not be bullied into accepting something Which is unacceptable. I will walk away from this cliff I will walk into myself and away From the perceptions of others And I will begin to live I will begin to live a life of my own design And I will begin to Live... as I fall...
