Why Did God Do This To Me? (Free verse) by TripleHGurl
Sometimes I think Why? Why aren't you here? For me to hold, For me to care for. Sometimes I believe You may be here; spiritually That your always with me That you stay with me till I sleep Sometimes I think Why? Why did God make you leave? Why did you agree? Why won't you come back to me?

Maybe he did it so you'd stop whining. Apparently it failed. I wonder what he'll find next...

So your telling me that God took my father away so I would stop whining? Is that correct?

That's right!! God isn't omnipatient!!!

Neither my father nor I did anything wrong. God shouldn't of taken him. Do you even know what that feels like? I was 12 when that happened.

Why don't you tell me in painstaking detail exactly what happened? I'm dying to know!!!
Are you telling me that you sought out and registered an account at a website, the express purpose of which is to provide a forum for any loser who considers themself a 'poete', and you genuinely believe that not one of those people will have suffered personal misfortune equal to yours? Everyone at poemeranker has lost someone they love, or been raped up the bum by an uncle, and that's the sole motherfucking reason they're here, to whine on incessantly about it. Except me. My only problem is this terrible flatulence. WHY DID GOD DO THIS TO ME????????///

Well I am very happy that you still have your father. I would do anything to have my father back even if it was for a day. But I can't and I will never see him again.

Do you see what you've done there? You've CLEVERLY ESCAPED HAVING TO THINK OF A MEANINGFUL REPLY BY APPEALING TO PITY. Looks like it worked! I'm so overcome with emotion that I can hardly remember what we were talking about! See ya!!

Also, would you really do anything? Would you, for example, sell your soul? Because that can be arranged...

I would also like to remind you that it is, ex hypothesi, impossible for God to do something He shouldn't have.

I already know that it's impossibl for God to do someting he shouldn't have. I read the Bible.

So why didn't he take your father if you could care less?
[n/a] -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. @ 131.111.212.215 > TripleHGurl | 20-Oct-02/3:28 PM | Reply
So... you know it's impossible for God to do something He shouldn't have, but you still claim that God shouldn't have taken your father, and that God did take your father? Nice one!!

The reason God did not take my father is because I have no father. Indeede, I have no mother. I was woven on a Loom.

The more I read this, the more I notice the heresy inherent in it. Daring to claim God made a mistake... Daring to think that people only are taken by God if they agree to, which negates the full glory of the All-Mighty Baker of the World (who apparently left the ktichen for a moment and didn't realise he burnt the cake). By your own beliefs, God can do nothing he shouldn't do; the ways of God pass our understanding, as they say, and we must accept them all. You, girl, have the sheer GALL to question God'S might and Power, and Infinite Justice??? On your knees, girl, on your knees, and pray that ye be purged of the sickest sin of Pride, that Pride which led to Lucifer's own Fall, and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. I'm sure you can get your preacher to fill in the rest with a nice little sermon on the evils of pride.

And on what evidence do you base your claim that she will "see him again one day" ? I'll tell you. No evidence. You just made it up. Nice one, though!

I believe she will see her father again one day, just as I'll see my grandparents, my uncle, and friends I've lost... when I die... that's what I believe... true, I have no real evidence to substantiate it... but then again, can you prove that there is a god? No... does that mean God doesn't exist because you don't have any evidence to base your claim? Just a thought :o)
[n/a] -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. @ 131.111.245.180 > loneshadow29 | 25-Oct-02/1:16 PM | Reply
I can prove there is a God: it says so in the Bible. His name is Jesu. Praise be to God! Holy! Holy! Holy!

I think the REAL question here is "Can you prove that there isn't a Giant Cybernetic Prawne floating outside the Universe?" No. You can't. So I'll thank you not to scorn my belief that there is. Don't you see that your belief is just as ridiculous as mine?

Think on this:
"I wish to propose for the reader's favourable consideration a doctrine which may, I fear, appear wildly paradoxical and subversive. The doctrine in question is this: that it is undesirable to believe a proposition when there is no ground whatever for supposing it true." -- Bertrand Russell
[9] loneshadow29 @ 64.12.96.234 > -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. | 25-Oct-02/2:12 PM | Reply
True true... but how do you know if the bible is telling the truth? And, I'm not trying to scorn your beliefs in anything... that's why they are beliefs... there isn't any facts to substantiate... just you feel it... that's the point I'm trying to make...
[n/a] -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. @ 131.111.245.180 > loneshadow29 | 25-Oct-02/3:07 PM | Reply
I'll tell you, Sir, why the 'bible is telling the truth'! The Bible is telling the truth, because if you don't believe it is telling the truth, YOU WILL GO TO HELL. Perhaps if you were a Gentleman, you wouldn't ask such impertinent questions! I daresay you owe Jesu an apology.

And as for the point you are trying to make, think on this:

The point I am trying to make, is that the point you are trying to make is gay. Why you find it desirable to hold beliefs that clearly have a significant impact on your life, and yet have absolutely no justification whatsoever, is beyond me. That is because I am a Gentleman. And you, Sir, are a cad. Good day.
[9] loneshadow29 @ 63.80.251.73 > -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. | 28-Oct-02/12:02 PM | Reply
I used the bible to make my point... how do you know it's telling the truth? not because someone told you that it's true... it's because that you believe it is... no basis to place it... you just feel it... that's the point I was making... what I believe in is what I was taught at home, but more than that... I believe it in my heart... so if you find it "gay", I'm sorry... and for the record, I am a gentleman or at least I try to be...
[n/a] -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. @ 131.111.212.215 > loneshadow29 | 28-Oct-02/12:16 PM | Reply
what...I can't understand this...too many...ellipses...

Look. You may well "feel" that what the Bible says is true, but that is no basis for *asserting* that it's true. If you say that what the Bible says is true, it follows that you say that part of what the Koran says is not true, since some of what the Bible says contradicts some of what the Koran says. But people who say that all of what the Koran says is true feel it is true just as much as you feel that what the Bible says is true. You can't both be right, so either you're wrong, they're wrong, or you're both wrong.

It seems hard to argue for either of the first two cases, since by your admission the *only* thing we have to go on in this case is what people "feel" is true, and neither side has an advantage in this respect. For lack of evidence, then, I can only conclude that you're both wrong.

Replying to this by saying "I don't care if it's logical or not; I just believe in my heart that it's true" will not make sense. Unless, that is, you are not only using a magical, vague notion of "believe" but also a magical, vague notion of "is true".

I would like a definition of what it is to believe 'X' in one's heart. As far as I can tell this is just another way of saying you "feel" that 'X' is true. If so, I would like an explanation of how "feeling" that 'X' is true is different from "believing" that 'X' is true. I would also like to hear what you mean by "is true". My necessary and sufficient conditions are: 'X' is true if and only if X. Please tell me your necessary and sufficient conditions for proposition 'X' to be true.

Sorry about the ellipses. I understand what you're saying and "believe in my heart" probably wasn't the best expression to use, since I guess the simple use of the word faith would have been better. I guess that would sum things up I think... faith. From what I've gathered, you have faith in the bible just as I do. And you're probably right, I really don't know for sure, about parts of the Koran and the Bible contradicting each other. But, I have faith in what I believe in. I don't know for sure whether what I believe in is true or not, right or wrong. All I have to go on is my faith in it. Faith and trust. I hope this explains it. I hope
[n/a] -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. @ 131.111.212.215 > loneshadow29 | 28-Oct-02/12:40 PM | Reply
That doesn't answer my question at all. You've simply replaced the phrase "I believe in my heart" with "I have faith (and trust) in".

Look at this: Nobody's asking you to *know for sure*. I just want to know whether "having faith that X" *is a reason* for believing that X is true. Not a proof that 'X' is true. Do you or don't you think that having faith that X is a reason (not necessarily an overpowering reason; it's enough that it provides SOME reason) to believe that 'X' is true?
[9] loneshadow29 @ 63.80.251.73 > -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. | 28-Oct-02/12:54 PM | Reply
I think faith is a reason to believe that X is true, but not an overpowering one. The only time I could think that it could be the main reason to believe is in absense of proof. If you believe it to be true, I guess that faith is the reason for it and nothing else.
[n/a] -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. @ 131.111.212.215 > loneshadow29 | 28-Oct-02/12:56 PM | Reply
But can't you see that the reason provided by your faith is 'cancelled out' by the reason not to believe in it provided by a Muslim's faith?:
[9] loneshadow29 @ 63.80.251.73 > -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. | 28-Oct-02/1:10 PM | Reply
I say let the muslims believe what they want to believe. If they say I am wrong, so be it, it will not change it. Unless they can prove what I believe in is wrong, then I would accept it. Otherwise, I stick to what I believe.
[n/a] -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. @ 131.111.212.215 > loneshadow29 | 28-Oct-02/1:33 PM | Reply
I'm surprised it took you this long to revert back to "I don't care what anyone else says or what the actual facts are."

They don't *prove* that your belief is wrong. They simply provide a reason not to believe in it exactly as powerful as your reason to believe in it. If you can't see that to continue beliving in it is insane, then you're insane.
