the silent storm (Free verse) by mallory180
The wind, so cold and sharp Like a thousand needles clinging to my skin Dark shadows covered the houses and trees Only a few more I said to myself I continued to walk, but the coldness, so harsh, tempting me to turn away and run An eerie feeling swept across my body I felt frozen, locked up and never to be free But I kept on moving The more I walked, the darker it got Finally after hours of walking in the silent storm I was there I stood back and looked, this was my old house The one I grew up in Suddenly I began to feel a warm feeling in my chest My heart I thought, but then I remembered the all horror that took place here The pain and the sorrow, the never-ending nightmare And I realized that I can???t be here, I mustn???t live in the past To live in the past is to go back to the dungeon from which I had just barely escaped So I turned and walked away, not looking back once, but facing the silent storm

Down the ladder: Breathless.

Distributors go round, 'till they get stuck. Don't ask 'cause I don't know. Less is more here I think. I felt it though. (Hoping to find???????)

I don'think you need to spellout that you don't want to live in the past-your message would be obvious if you just said that theat you decided to turn away from your old house - you only need to show, not tell.
