A Short Message to You (Free verse) by jess33
I am sick of kicking pebbles. All I ask is that You let me move mountains. These petty tasks You give me before You go leave me tired, and frustrated. From the time I was a child, I have done what You asked. Well, at least most of the time, and where is the recompence? Continually You push the envelope of my faith, knowing that I am a competitor, always pulling for the parochial underdog. All I ask is that You let me move mountains. On Sundays, and some Wednesdays, I come in, I sit down, I am moved. As I listen, my hope is renewed. I am a believer in You as always, and You get your way with me once again. Walking out I kick the pebbles and add to my plan to change the world. All I ask is that You let me move mountains.

Some of the phrasing I find a bit awkward - 'pushing the envelope' is too much a cliche, and the 'parochial underdog' scans uneasily - but what you are saying is very good. It's this kind of thing that put me off God completely but it's good to argue with him like this and keep your faith if you can.
