Him, again and again... (Free verse) by hobojo
The only pleasure left in my life Is closing my eyes and thinking of him Imagining lips touching, knowing it will never be And it is killing me So I try to refrain from imagining Concentrating on past interactions of bliss I remember past discussions My memory recalls his smile And eyes that drive me wild I hold out hope That one day He will have forgiven me For actions and emotions misconstrued For I truly had the best of intentions but foolishly followed my heart Next time, I shall follow my brain Which would have screamed at me to refrain A big bowl of mess For which I am to blame Somehow brought me close enough To discover who you are You think that I don't know you Thinking you know me all too well I wonder if one day We will both be out of our hell And you will acknowledge me once again...

a bit too wordy. example: For I truly had the best of intentions - can be something like: I meant well.
I think "him" and "you" are the same person.
