The Devil and I (Free verse) by forsaken
I've never been good at saying goodbye The last time i fought with my emotions not to cry But it's finally time to wave my hand again Always there you were acting like a true friend This has to be done for me to move forward All those nights in the bottle just made me feel more like a turd As I pour the whiskey down my sink drain I look up to the mirror and I can hear you in brain Asking me with the most friendly calm voice, why Like you're a good friend and you don't want to say goodbye I then notice the scares on my wrist and remember those nights When we would have one of our little fights People would see them and yet I'd always defend you All cause I didn't have the strength to tell you not to Well you left me bleeding for the last time You'd say it was to help with the pain I hold in this heart of mine I hear you remind me how We've been together through it all Sure I can always count on you to catch me when I fall And when I hit the bottom all those years ago You were the only person I let know Still it's time to close my eyes While a part of me goes and dies Don't expect me to morn for you, no I won't cry It's about time the devil and I say goodbye

Up the ladder: Sonnet for a Suicide
Down the ladder: the room's a'spinnin'

disjointed and lacking any kind of rhythm I could find (maybe just my two left brains)

re-write once the devil has gone and note the difference
