A River Ran Through It (Free verse) by Dovina
When earth was flat and space a sphere time flowed surely through it upstream future, downstream past evident as mighty Zeus sensible as apple’s drop Now the world’s no longer flat Zeus not quite the man apples ride on waves and time has all but stopped Illusions—past and future not a river really but tingling on the brain a handy way to sort things out a filing drawer at best Still, we feel the flattened land walk as uninformed each day and then the next trusting gods and luck

Up the ladder: Alleluia
Down the ladder: Portables
