New Year (Lyric) by wilco
Here we stand, nearly 12AM waiting for someone to start the countdown so we can kiss and pretend that it’s gonna be different this year. And now here they come again with champagne filled glasses so we can toast and make promises that we know we’re never gonna keep. Outside the fireworks sound like a war that’s a million miles away and people are dyin’ just the same as yesterday but we don’t have to see their face. So, we just keep our thoughts to ourselves and never mention out loud that sooner or later the new year is gonna get old.

Up the ladder: Euclidian Insanity
Down the ladder: O Death

Came by, saw that Rockmage is back and just had to log in and post. Just something I wrote all drunk New Years Eve...just a little song. B F# E chord progression for anyone who cares.

Suggest Bm, Em, F# major - somber sounds for a dismal theme. (I know, a major key can carry a somber theme, too.) Not bad for being drunk. I could say, “Not that this is bad, but I bet you could write a really great thing if you saved up and all that.” But I won’t. Not bad sober either.

Incidentally, this is my 91st submission with three years as a Poemeranker user nearly here, Feb. 18. I haven't been around much lately because I've been too busy to write, much less read. Seems the Ranker isn't doing too well? A pity. This place has given me a lot...I might even send Nentwined some money...but probably not.

wasn't this poem the inspiration for 15 seconds of a 1970s sitcom?

I love that people are taking themselves so seriously. I haven't been commenting at all because I've just been using this site as an archive, but damn! Is there something going around running up peoples' asses or what? I absolutely love the sarcasm and the synthetic wit. I flaunt my vocabulary as much as the next person, but hey! Nobody talks like this. Good luck on all future ventures you guys, and I hope you'll find someone to give you that hug you so desperately need.

P.S. Best poem I've ever read. *5*

I'm not sure if this is a knock on me or on others, but either way, cheers! Thanks for the vote Mac.

not on you as MUCH as them, but I'm just as bad, don't worry. We wouldn't write poetry if we didn't think ours was divine.

I don't think mine are divine in the least. Especially not this one.

oh, and patty could use about 5 minutes to stop taking everything so seriously.
