HE CAN SAVE YOU (Free verse) by Tawina Fernandes
HE CAN SAVE YOU
The only soul in a crowded street
In the busy shadows of disbelief
Loneliness has no time to waste
On a man with purpose
The rain falls thick
Harsh on his tender skin
Eyes closed with the heat of rejection
Heart pounding with the sound of fear
Look up at the sky says his conscience
Look up at me
Iâll save you if you let me
Voices drive him crazy
Telling him heâs a fool to be who he is
Why he canât change is the same reason
Everyone else can.
He is who he is
Because itâs who he wants to be
Who heâs meant to be
Look up at me
Iâll save you if you let me
How long he will survive
Is the bet they place
Itâs only a matter of time
Before heâs one of them
Before his face resembles theirs
Before he forgets love
Before he cannot feel, cannot see
All that will set him free
âAlmost too easyâ, he tells himself
âBut thatâs not who I amâ
Look up at me
Iâll save you if you let me
I am everything you are afraid to be
I am everything you want to be
I am all heart and soul
Clean mind clear thought
No lies, no greed
No hate, no constant âMeâ
I am who I want to be
All because I let him save me
