Milkman's Eyes (Lyric) by oneglove
Milkman, milkman where’d you get those eyes? I’ve been askin’ for years and only hearin’ lies, lies, lies ‘Cause your’s are green and mine are too Daddy’s are brown and momma’s blue Milkman, milkman where’d you get those eyes? Oh milkman, milkman teach me how to live You’re here each day though milk’s still in the fridge So milkman if I call you dad Will I grow up right and not be bad? Milkman, milkman teach me how to live Milkman, milkman teach me how to love Comin’ in through the window silent as a dove, dove, dove Poppa’s comin’ through the door Back outside clothes on the floor Milkman, milkman teach me how to love Milkman, milkman where you headed now? With news of you spreadin’ all over town Milkman up and ran away Poppa taught me real men stay Lookin’ less like the milkman each and every day Poppa, poppa where’d you get those eyes? They’re softer than the clouds up in the sky, sky, sky They look at me straight and true Always tell me what to do Poppa, poppa, where’d you get those eyes? Poppa, poppa teach me how to live Workin' hard each day to keep food in the fridge Always try to do what’s best For mom and me and all the rest Poppa, poppa teach me how to live Poppa, poppa teach me how to love Oh, treat her like an angel from above, bove, bove Kiss her as you leave each day Be slow to yell, and quick to stay Poppa, poppa teach me how to love Poppa, poppa, who’s that in the mirror? Those milkman eyes are no longer so clear As I’ve grown from boy to man You’ve been there with guiding hand Milkman’s gone and poppa’s all I see Yeah, milkman’s gone and poppa’s all I see

I bet it's a moving song. I hear a guitar played to a folky or country tune. It's hard to comment on a song without hearing the music, but this be good.

Dovina's right. It's hard to judge without the music. It feels a little bluesy to me--and very well written.
