Light in the Darkness (Free verse) by grumpycrafter
Looking up through the darkness, the sun shines in clear skies. Reaching for its healing light, I slide back to the bottom. Sitting here in the darkness, tears and sadness prevail. Crying here at the bottom, its echoes thought unheeded. Living in the darkness, the light beckons me. Climbing rung after rung, reaching out for help. Cries in the darkness heeded, friends waited with understanding. To make my way out of darkness, I had to climb out myself.

Up the ladder: Homage
Down the ladder: Up Close at a Distance

This is not bad, although I think you could make the last stanza stronger. For one thing, the rest of the poem tells us you're in the darkness, so you don't need to repeat darkness twice because we allready know that's what your trying to climb out of.
