A Living Word (Free verse) by MacFrantic
In throes Tossed across the table It writhes under my eye This arachnid sneers Curses the webs you wove To catch my beating heart Chances trickle for you They spill like wine But you spit laughter Before you can speak So let that creature curl And say everything you ought to I dismiss your gesture Your cruel conjecture An attack on my calamity To dine on better days Where the only fear I have Comes without a conscience

Up the ladder: Idle
Down the ladder: Suck

It starts out crisp an cutting, as it should. The second verse drifts from that focused beginning, and the third more so. I really like the first verse.
