Swollen Tongue (Free verse) by MacFrantic
The firing squad is drunk again The vulture's flying squares We'll pull the rugs down from our roofs And let it rain into our bathtubs In each room of the house is a knob Connected to the floor There are one-thousand-seven-hundred-sixty-three Ways to eat an apple with complete sincerity There are bears with marigold tiaras And serpentine smoke signals Coming from the broken chimney And I'm awake And I'm awake And I'll never sleep again

Up the ladder: Insomnia
Down the ladder: book drop here

I thought it was 1,764. Yes, I'm sure of it. And you will sleep again.
