Prologue (Free verse) by Dovina
Well. Well what? Well, here we are. Preposterous! A poet must start sure-footedly. Ah, but beginning is not easy. If you find it so difficult, why do you insist on writing. Because I have something to say. Thank heaven for that. What is it? If I could tell you, I would have said it already. And since you have not said it, you cannot tell me? Precisely. Congratulations! Your poem is a model of brevity.

Haha this is humorous and thoughtful. A poet's poem. Nice work.

I thought it was only slightly more clever than droning on about writer’s block.

Excellent, D. I think this could be read as a monologue (referencing back to the title) wherein the poet is arguing with him/herself, or it could be an exchange between two.

Do you know, if half the people on All Poetry took this view, the amount of poems online would be reduced by a massive percentage?

I read it at a poetry workshop, asking an old man to read the indented lines. Everyone thought it was rather funny. That’s a group of poets for you. I think the general public would think it’s just silly

Ah, but the general public is mostly stupid. Then again, if the internet's anything to go by, so are most poets. You, fortunately, are not.

And there I have another reason for saying you are more fun to argue with than zodiac.

i'd be curious to hear this performed by actors. is it a prologue to something, or to all poetry in general?
