weather poem part 2: to do list (Free verse) by nypoet22
Everyone mentions the weather. 1. Stand on your head and watch the raindrops roll up your thigh. 2. Hold open your trenchcoat, lean forward and see if the wind will hold you up, if puddles will catch you. 3. Make snow cones using real snow and applejuice. 4. Open your umbrella in the wind and play tag; you're it! 5. Fly an airplane around a puffy cloud, mold it like mashed potatoes, make a mountain, make a skateboard ramp, make sure to put your hands out of the cabin while holding plastic cutlery. 6. On a day cold enough to see your breath, blow through a fork; watch the split streams of moist air condense, the tines mist and un-mist in your gloved hands. 7. Build a swimming pool in a clear, round tank. Elevate the tank off the ground so it will act as a magnifying glass, and cook your hot dogs beneath you on a sunny day. 8. Draw a circle on the frozen ground, collect some hailstones and play a game of marbles. 9. Throw a plastic disc in the thick fog, as far as you can heave into the thickest pea soup mist, and trace its flight. 10. Can you smell the fresh, morning dew through the soles of your feet, tight cotton pants drenched at the tips, pollen becoming honey right beneath your nostrils? 11. Remember making love while a summer wind tossed the dancing curtains, teasing sweat from the nape of your neck in the frame of an open window, without a soul watching but the sun, the blinds touched open by the exhaling tips of our fingers. 12. Hear it, listen to the drip-drip-dripping of waterfalls off the rain gutters onto the front stoop; each of the droplets dripping in puddles fades into the soft, summer whisper; hear what she is saying, her lips damp next to your ear: "shh, shh, shh, close your eyes my love, lie beneath my cool sheets, let me fan the hair on your skin, purse my lips and breathe from your toes to your ankles. and on. 13. Feel the charge in the air, electric, physical, taste the flash and rumble and splash of black waterfall, seated at the center of the storm. Just be, because you are the storm and the storm is you until finally something inside you opens to the world and everything beautiful, calmly opens like the eye of a hurricane.

Amusing list, as a standalone it probably doesn't make for a great deal but with the whole collection I can see this working. Are you intending on publishing them in the near future, or further expanding, or neither?

i'm not really sure, but further expanding would be a safe bet. then editing. then editing more. lather, rinse, repeat. i may or may not submit for publication whenever (if ever) i'm done.

Definitely go for publication when it's all sufficiently edited. It's shaping up to be a very readable collection. Do you draw/paint, or know an artist of high enough calibre? I think this would work well illustrated.
