Pancakes (Free verse) by raven_the_poet
When I wake up in the morning, I smell syrup, eggs, and bacon, Orange juice, and pancakes. Like most mornings, I rush down the stairs And into the kitchen. The smell of breakfast hits me As I jump into my chair and Dip my fork into the luscious pancake sauce. I pick the crispiest bacon, And chew my eggs, Hurrying to get through Before school. The next day is the same, And it always will be, Until the world runs out Of pancakes.

Up the ladder: Kansas City
Down the ladder: Dark's Nest

A very charming little tribute, the last stanza made me chuckle. As a student, pancakes are a long-lost joy but I swear in time that will change.
On a slightly different note, it reminded me of Bush's speech about America being addicted to oil, very topical indeed.
