You have never seen me cry
I have tried so hard to ignore the pain
But somehow it wonât go away
I used to think that I could deny
The pain you caused me
Your words have stabbed my heart
No matter what you say
My dreams are always torn apart
I have always hidden the pain from you
But I can no longer control the tears
I know you would only laugh in my face
To reinforce my every fear

Sounds like you have exaggerated what really happened by thinking about it in too much negativity. Would he really "laugh in my face To reinforce my every fear"?
