At the Olde Absinthe (Free verse) by Limness
Leaning over a beaten copper rail
Seeking solace
Sipping at an amber draft
Legal here, unlike the namesake
Elbows continuing the carving of marble
Worn into soft wells
Over years of distraction
Wearied escape
Wondering what the whitish elixir,
Tinged an evil green
As seen in that Manet
Would distill in me
