Waiting For The Light To Change (Free verse) by elderking
braking to stop at the redlight i spied an old man with a cart it was brimming with "treasure" junk without measure i smiled, amused at the start. the old man shifted this and that sorting through all that he owned seeming happy at last his glance stopped me fast as his eyes locked onto my own we stared at each other not looking away for only a moment or two he stroked his stubbled chin and gave a wide toothless grin then shrieked "I'm jesta a mirror of you!" Standing tall at attention still staring my way his finger to nose in salute that's when he started to prance a wild jig of a dance while singing "Girlie, ya won't always be cute!" I continued to watch amused and amazed he really put on a strange show he was ranting out loud which attracted a crowd and that's when he started to crow! "I'm an old man, he crooned only to me, but i was once young as you are today. my bad habits for years, is what rusted my gears, and i'm purty sure that caused my gray!" hands on his hips, he swayed to and fro, laced his fingers cupping his chin. he batted his lashes, asked where my stash is, then giggled and crowed once again! I'd seen enough! Would the light ever change? I was sure the old guy was plowed. placing a fingertip to chin he gave a lopsided grin and curtsied to the now howling crowd. at last the light changed thankfully to green the show's over I thought with a sigh but in a last ditch encore he dropped his pants with a roar yelling "Here's somethin to remember me by!"

Dovina- Thanks. It's mostly a true story that happened to me a few summers ago. That guy was bizarre! Thanks for your comments and interest. elderking

Oops sorry; I didn't intend for that to happen. What did I do wrong?
