Pain (Free verse) by TLRufener
Somewhere is a place Where I belong, And someday I will find it; I hope it doesn’t take too long. I’ve shed many tears Over these blackened plains And I’ve had many heartbreaks Without a comfort to be near. I can see no end To all of my pain, And I see no stoppage For this endless rain. No one seems to understand How hard it is To try and be perfect In a world where you cannot even live. Every day Is just another day, And each thing they say Is just another thing they say. Forgiveness has vanished From every respect of my life. And my parents cannot know Of all of my pain and my strife. Try as I do And fail as I do; They do not seem to notice That it is all I can do. One little black mark Tarnishes the record And all of the greatness Never seems to make up for it. They cannot understand How I’m feeling inside Because they never came this far In the youth of their lives. I cannot explain How hard it is Because they cannot know What real strife is. They had their problems I know as well; My problem cannot Be subsided like they believe. My inner pain Is hard to explain Because I had a larger problem Than they could ever know. They think they understand But they really do not Because they never had This type of trouble with their lives. I must stop this rambling, For I am feeling quite faint; Someday this will go, And so will the rain.
