Count the Days (Free verse) by longships
Crouch down behind four walls, Refuge from the outside world. Electrical gadgets my only company, Safe in the place I call home. Images stare from a box in the corner, My eyes the only things awake to its story. Alone in my bedsit, I snuggle close to the fire, And count the days unending.

Up the ladder: cacoon
Down the ladder: night travel

Yeah, and I've got news for you: being a poet doesn't get you laid like it used to, when Wordsworth and Coleridge could get non-scaggy college girls whenever they wanted without waiting or foreplay.
