We (Free verse) by darby pyn
Coerced into the explosion. you know how to push all the right buttons. do I concede or go for the throat. murder is so tempting when I am defenseless with my back to the wall. eye to eye with the devil in me. how fast rage can surge from the slightest prick to an avalanche of inconsolable anger shaking the rafters from their beams. my humanity collapsing to rubble. the only thing standing is the chimney with a fire too hot to contain. the point of no return. the steel night heavy with ominous overtones . a low strident murmur confined in my mental sheath. distracted by practical sedation. I am open for corruption. dreaming about the other side and it’s delicious mystery. I am fulfilling my premonition. adventure a stop light away. let’s go! four talking cadavers leaking our secrets, forgetting our lies so drunk the billboard landscape becomes a panoramic nightmare of gluttony and the mundane we replaced trees for. screaming to the point of tears at nothing. we are mad spoiled children starving for attention. we eat the leftovers from every birthday and reminisce too much when done. the mirror has no soul and dorian gray is dead. we live like there’s no tomorrow and tomorrow always disappoints us. so we die young. age is just a number. and we become a conduit for the physical electricity depression provides with our memory.

bated means "to take away, subtract or lessen." The dictionary I opened also said it could mean "to flap the wings wildy."

which did you mean?
