Night (Free verse) by storyspinner
Beneath the crown of night I lie Still and cradled in the dark Breezes drift across my skin The landscape is solemn and stark The whole world holds its breath When the shadows come And you can feel the very sky Begin to shift and hum The night comes crawling slowly On feet so dark and cold That all the lonely go scrambling For someone close to hold But feel in me the darkness It shines with its own light Radiant and softly flowing I am in love with the night Blanket me, and fill me Send shadows across my skin Breathe in me your deepness Bring the night within Shadows creep across the sky Leaving the world to wonder why They watch the daylight flashing by But I am still – and here I lie.

Up the ladder: incomplete
Down the ladder: Rolling Bells
