Oasis (Free verse) by Pen&Ink
Tread carefull across this war-torn land. The hills are scarred from fires wild. The rivers are dry from years of drought. The blackened trees bare only rotten fruit. The valleys show red with stains of blood. And across the plains, there is no sign of life. But should you follow the path of ash Across the mountains of bitter snow And through the canyon of stony flesh, There lies an oasis, hidden behind towering walls. These walls will have no door, And they may not be passed over or under. For the right person, these walls will part, And inside will live the greatest of joys. In these joys, this person may share Should they choose to stay. And if they remain, their heart will soar, And they will be saved from the outside world And all of its anguish. Should you find this oasis, And should its walls open for you, Do not flee from But instead embrace the feeling inside. Embrace it and be free, forever.
