Servant Boy (Free verse) by MarchingMan56
There you all are Having all the fun Having all the laughs Having all the love Having a grand old time Here I am Locked outside I peer in Through such a small window Trying to get a glimpse Never do you call me in Never am I wanted Just needed For some favor Some errand of yours So loyal I am It makes me sick But still I go on Go on this way My mother died Me you did console Father walked away Held me you did But why? Out of pity? Obligation? To keep appearances? That's so sweet Abused That's how I feel I could walk away right now Damn right I should I don't need this life The cold unfeelingness you all provide I could work somewhere else Find people who did care Who wanted me around They'd invite me in Let me eat at the same table Sleep in the same house They'd know my birthday Give me a present And expect nothing in return I'd work And feel bad when I got paid What a life that would be But I'll never leave you And you know that I won't I'm loyal as a dog It's so sick So twisted But I remain here Through it all Your invisible Strangely loyal Servant boy
