My grandmother, especially, was so handicapped. Her two hands could not keep up with her heart.

This is the best poem I've read in a while.

Thank you Zo. I'm new to this site and i deleted the other comments by accidents. I'm sorry about that.

I found this poeme incredibly hurtful. My mother actually is handicapped, and when I see people like you trivialising something that is a serious problem for many real people, it makes me angry and sad. <no vote>

Did'nt mean any harm to no one. my father is handicapped, he's in the hospital in a coma as I speak. again I am sorry.

Having a handicapped father I can tolerate. But plagiarism? Now that's another matter.

I've heard it stated similarly before too. Since blacksoul did not use the exact wording, I doubt if he even knew about the Tanguy quote.
[n/a] -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. @ 81.153.196.50 > Dovina | 23-Dec-04/3:51 PM | Reply
Look the point is it's not an original quote. It's smeared all over the internet, for starters. Then there's the fact that you've also heard it before. The Tanguy link was just one example. Are you seriously suggesting blacksoul independently invented it?
[9] Dovina @ 69.175.6.101 > -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. | 23-Dec-04/5:02 PM | Reply

Seldom does one of us invent something. He worded a familiar idea because it meant something to him.
[n/a] -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. @ 81.153.196.50 > Dovina | 24-Dec-04/5:35 AM | Reply
You buffoon. If any rewording did take place, it almost certainly happened because he just didn't remember the original quote accurately. And besides, the only difference between this poeme, and the Tanguy quote (which, as I said, is just one example), is that he has removed the word "physically" and incorrectly inserted an apostrophe in "mothers". What a stroke of genius.

You're being quite, quite silly about this whole thing, Dovina. Every time I read something that means something to me, which happens pretty much every time I read something I like, does that mean it isn't plagiarism to replicate it almost to the word, post it as a poeme, then pass it off as my own?
[9] Dovina @ 69.175.6.101 > -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. | 24-Dec-04/11:58 AM | Reply

You are the buffoon here for your ridiculous accusation of plagiarism and your more ridiculous trying to support it. You already agreed that he probably did not know that particular quote, only that he might have known the gist of it.
And why are you unable to figure out how to avoid the indentations?
[n/a] -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. @ 81.153.196.50 > Dovina | 24-Dec-04/5:16 PM | Reply
lol, only knew the 'gist'? What fucking more is there to know? Oh I see, he should have said "physically handicapped", and shouldn't have incorrectly inserted an apostrophe in "mothers". Nice one - not only is he a plagiarist, he's incompetent as well. All he did was remember a well known quote THAT WAS NOT HIS OWN, write it down as best he could, then PASS IT OFF AS IF HE WROTE IT. And you don't think that's plagiarism? All the work in this poeme has been done by the original author of the quote. All blacksoul has contributed is incompetence.

And as for the indentations: I don't know what you're talking about -10-
[9] Dovina @ 69.175.6.101 > -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. | 24-Dec-04/5:21 PM | Reply

It was only plagiarism if he knew that way of saying it. I can know the idea "Know thyself," or know the gist of it, and say in in other words, and that's okay.
Notice how my comments are nicely spaced, not grossly indented like yours.
[n/a] -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. @ 81.153.196.50 > Dovina | 24-Dec-04/7:09 PM | Reply
The gist of the quote is that mothers (or mother's, if you prefer) are overworked. If blacksoul thought something like "Hmm, mothers are overworked. In a way, you could say they were handicapped, because they don't have enough hands to do all the work they need to do. And that's actually amusing because it's normal to have two hands! I know, I'll make that into a poeme!" then he would have independently invented something.

But he obviously didn't think that. It would be a coincidence of bum-like proportions if that were the case. He just regurgitated a well known quote, virtually verbatim, with the only discrepancies being utterly inconsequential. If you're going to insist he has contributed his own unique slant on the idea, then you leave me no choice but to conclude that your brain has been severely damaged by an overwhelming barrage of flattery radiation, oozing daily from jroday and blacksoul's hobo-pores.

As for the gross spacing: I can't see indentations on any of my comments. I never indent, because poemeranker doesn't seem to allow spaces at the beginning of a comment line (at least on my browser, which is Internet Explorer v6). Either you don't know what an indent is, or something is tits-up with poemeranker, or your browser, or mine.

You assume too much about people. And having assumed, you react with strong put-down language to minor things. This you do if the person appears wrong or incompetent in some area where you consider yourself more competent. You say that because jroday and blacksoul have flattered me that everything I say in their defense against your accusation is payment for their flattery. Your assumption leads to words like "buffoon" and "seriously damaged" applied to a person whose motives you may not know. In this case I know that you do not understand the motives, because the person is me. I don't know if blacksoul ever heard the expression that he put into his poem. Chances are that he did, but maybe it was in different phrasing when he heard it. I don't know, and neither do you. We each have an inclination, but inclinations are different from knowing. The difference between our reactions is that you lean heavily on your inclination and react harshly. I lean lightly on mine and react compassionately in blacksoul's favor.

Your comments, only the first line, are indented about 20 spaces in IE 6.0, sp2, on my computer, as are almost everyone's comments.

"Chances are that he did"

Indeed they are. Overwhelmingly. It would be an extraordinary coincidence if he had independently come up with a virtually identical quote. That is why it is YOU who is leaning heavily on an inclination, because all the evidence points the other way. You even go so far as to accuse ME of being ridiculous(c.f. "ridiculous accusation of plagiarism and your more ridiculous trying to support it"). You probably see yourself as the compassionate old vicar, -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. as the marauding hobo-bully, and blacksoul as the victim. But what about the original author of the quote? If the evidence suggests this quote was regurgitated from another source (perhaps blacksoul just heard it somewhere), then as a compassionate person shouldn't you be defending them? Aren't they the more likely victim in all this?
[9] Dovina @ 69.175.6.101 > -=Dark_Angel=-, P.I. | 25-Dec-04/9:37 AM | Reply
Indeed they are not overwhelmingly so. And what if he did? And what if he didn't? You simply listen to yourself and ignore arguments that deter from your slanderous purposes. I'm simply bored with it all and with you. There is no discussing a matter with you. Merry Christmas.

"Indeed they are not overwhelmingly so."

Yes they are.

"And what if he did?"

Then he's a plagiarist. Obviously.

"And what if he didn't?"

Then he independently came up with the same idea. He has not taken someone else's idea and passed it off as his own.

"You simply listen to yourself and blah blah blah"

Humbug.

The only reason that dovina is defending, is that she is a plagiarist too. She plagiarized me, of all the hacks in the world to choose from.

I doubt she will have the guts to even deny it. Let's see if she tries.

If you hadn't spent all of Freshman Comps doing whatever it was you were doing with yourself at the time, you'd know plagiarism doesn't mean what you think it does. This is plagiarism. Incidentally, that's my word, from my field. You will argue, but you might as well be walking into some laboratory, unequivocally trumping 'You're all wrong, this isn't rocket-fuel' and then drinking the whole beakerful. Oh, no, wait. You CAN disagree because we're talking about words, and words are everyone's friends. Bum.
