On Satisfaction (Free verse) by D. $ Fontera
Stoked with rage this fire burns within us The great mass, a tide of writhing calm Bating sorrow tears at taught limbs An apple falls from the sky during Christmas Rolling down the street A sharp left The mouth of a vase choked as Its bulging cheeks hold firm Twin baby elephants visit Padre in the evening His thin cloak barely keeps out the cold For days the sun stays away Satisfied with the sufferings upon the Earth The first elephant Wendy, of larger stature Finds an apple outside her window She rends the silence with cries "Oh! Of lighter things and such unbearable cruelty! What for am I content with such agony!?" And the slightly younger elephant With no name to mention Meets her in soon static jubilation He weeps, with but one exclamation " So this the temptation is!"

Up the ladder: Death Beseech You
Down the ladder: my you have a bubbly laugh
