Where Have Equality Slipped Off To? (Free verse) by TLRufener
Where has equality slipped off to We fought so hard to change the world But somehow we have still failed to win Women are still servants and slaves Men still rule the world When will I wake up from this nightmare Even the angel child has turned against me Imitating the unequal fiend beside me She understands not, he remembers not She is too young, and he faults just as I do Where has equality slipped off to When a different view labels you as wrong There must be just one way down the road I am obviously walking the opposite direction No matter what I will not turn around

Up the ladder: Lady in Red
Down the ladder: Garden of Monuments

I admire the spirit behind this but the expression is too simplistic and cliched to really make me feel the force of the poem. This states a case rather than creating an imaginative response to inequality; perhaps you could try creating a character or a voice that expresses what you mena without resorting to bald declarations?
