Fugitively Speaking (Free verse) by Dovina
It’s fine to say a surface thought, It seems so very true. But there’s a fugitive inside Who’d have us hear another view. She wants to talk, so let her speak. Perhaps we’ll find forensic clue. As riddles roll, we’ll test her heart, And see good sense her thoughts undo, Until they make themselves a part Of fancies floating through her brain, The long-lost ventures of her heart, That send up answers, sometimes pain. In pursuing her, there’s always risk She’ll take offense, go far away. Misrepresenting, sounding weird, Could squelch the thing she wants to say. As we spoke of vanished scenes, Of what we once had thought and said, Of what had been, and might have been, And who was changed, and who was dead, So it was we met and parted, When thus dressed-up she came to test. While true she was in many senses, The true thing lay at rest.

That depends on what you mean by "productive" and "think." Granted, this is a kind of thinking that aims at productivity of an unusual kind.

Both of you are wrong. Thinking produces thoughts, ergo productive.

To Dovina: Yes, the earlier, deleted version of this comment IS funnier. Repost it and make me a laughing-stock if you want. My hands were cold.

You make yourself a laughingstock. Please read it again and note the kind of thinking this poem addresses and then tell me whether you think it is productive ergo worthwhile.

It doesn't matter. And I haven't read it. Thought is necessarily productive, since it produces thoughts. But it is almost never worthwhile. You obviously think productive and worthwhile are the same thing. This, never mind that the ideas "to produce" and "to have worth" which are the bases of "productive" and "worthwhile", respectively, must be distinguishable even to you.

"This is a site for reading and critiquing POEMS, not for hurling around unfounded personal attacks and groundless suggestions." - zodiac.

How can I even talk with someone so self-contradictory and confused.

Wrong again. My insults (with the exception of your being an extremely failed thirty year old woman, which remains to be seen,) are grounded in poemranker users' poems and comments. Yours are grounded in nothing but your swelling desire to cry and kick things. This is what you've failed to get in all of this babble about internet flamers, aristocracy, and 'hopeless gay introverts.' Probably because getting it would require you to check yourself before you wreck yourself, while assuming we're simply arbitrary poet-assaulters is easy and gratifying.

Besides, "This is a site for reading and critiquing POEMS, not for hurling around unfounded personal attacks and groundless suggestions" is the most splendid jape of 1997.

Does this mean you will recant and read my poem now and comment on it rather than on how old I am and my general lifetime degree of success and/or failure?

This poem says nothing except that your as bad at psychology as most other things you've tried to write about here. And that despite your too often repeated (and probably new) aversion to God, your terribly, shamefully moral in the most conventional sense.

And what part of 'jape' are you not understanding?
